Defines standard equipment classification and equipment and attribute naming and facilitates the sharing of equipment information.

To support the need for the extensible register of standard references classes and naming of attributes and equipments, three additional parts of ISO 15926 have been proposed to ISO regarding reference data:

- ISO 15926-4 Reference Data

- ISO 15926-5 Procedures for registration and
  maintenance of Reference Data

- ISO 15926-6 Scope and methodology for
  developing additional reference data
